Although we have not hit any oldest taverns since our trip to Alabama, we’ve been staying very busy as 2024 has rolled into 2025. We’re looking forward to another oldest tavern expedition in June, but in the meantime we wanted to share what we’ve been up to. Locally we’ve been enjoying Arsenal game days at The Perch in Baltimore. Arsenal is a soccer team in England’s Premier League and The Perch is home to the Charm City Gooners. The Gooners, a play on Arsenal’s “Gunners” nickname, are a great bunch of folks and they are VERY enthusiastic supporters of the Arsenal side. Game days at The Perch are great fun! Matches in England, sometimes called fixtures, can start anytime between 07:30AM and 2:30PM here in Maryland, so before going please check ahead for the kick-off time. By the way, The Perch is always open for Arsenal games even though they may take place well before The Perch’s advertised opening times.
The Perch is a super venue for watching the games. There is an upper deck where most of the loyal Gooners gather, but there is a lower level, as well. The Perch has a mammoth screen than can be viewed from both the lower level and the upper deck along with lots of other screens spread around the place so you wont miss a minute of action. The Gooners are a friendly bunch, that is as long as you’re there to cheer on the Gunners :-) If you don’t have any Arsenal gear just go sporting Arsenal’s traditional red and white colors and they’ll be happy to set you up with some cool Arsenal merch. We highly recommend you check out The Perch on Arsenal game day, you’ll have a brilliant time!
